Return & Refund Policy

1. 30-Day Satisfaction Window
You may return Mother Hen hardware for a refund within thirty (30) calendar days of the delivery date. The delivery date is the date the shipment is confirmed delivered by the carrier.
2. Eligibility
To be eligible for a return:
- The return must be initiated within thirty (30) days of delivery.
- All hardware originally included in your order must be returned (controller, Egg, Coop Climate Sensor and Door Monitor(s), antenna, cables, mounting hardware).
- Hardware must not be intentionally damaged, disassembled, or modified beyond normal installation.
Normal installation wear (mounting holes, adhesive residue, outdoor exposure) does not disqualify a return.
3. Restocking Fee
A fifteen percent (15%) restocking fee is applied to all hardware returns. This fee covers non-recoverable costs including cellular SIM activation, cloud provisioning, and device configuration labor.
Example: A $399 Base Kit return results in a $339.15 refund (before any shipping deductions).
4. Return Shipping
The customer is responsible for return shipping costs. We recommend using a trackable shipping method with insurance. We are not responsible for hardware lost or damaged in return transit.
5. Refund Process
- Contact us to initiate a return.
- We provide a return authorization number and shipping address.
- Ship all hardware back at your expense.
- We inspect hardware upon receipt (up to 5 business days).
- Refund issued to original payment method, minus 15% restocking fee.
Refunds are typically processed within ten (10) business days of receiving the returned hardware.
6. Subscription Refunds
6.1 First Year (Bundled with Hardware)
The first year of cloud service is bundled with the Base Kit purchase. If hardware is returned within the 30-day window, the subscription is canceled and no separate subscription refund applies — the hardware refund covers everything.
6.2 Annual Renewal
If you cancel a paid annual renewal subscription:
- Within 30 days of renewal charge: Full refund of the renewal fee.
- After 30 days: No prorated refund; service continues through the end of the paid period.
6.3 Non-Renewal
If you choose not to renew, simply do not pay. Cloud services will be suspended at the end of your current subscription period. No refund is owed.
7. Additional Hardware (Add-On Sensors)
Additional Coop Climate Sensors and Door Monitors purchased separately follow the same 30-day return window and 15% restocking fee, calculated from the delivery date of the add-on order.
8. Damaged or Defective Hardware
If hardware arrives damaged or is defective out of the box:
- Contact us within seven (7) days of delivery.
- We will ship a replacement at no cost.
- No restocking fee applies to defective exchanges.
- See the Limited Hardware Warranty for coverage beyond the initial return window.
9. What Is Not Refundable
- Returns initiated after the 30-day window (see Warranty for defect coverage).
- Hardware that has been intentionally damaged, disassembled beyond normal installation, or modified.
- Service fees for on-site installation assistance, if offered in the future.
- Original shipping fees paid at the time of purchase, except in the case of defective hardware returns (see Section 8).
10. Exchanges
We do not currently offer direct exchanges. If you need a different configuration, return the original order per this policy and place a new order.
