When the door fails,
the flock pays.

Automatic coop doors fail. Predators don't take the night off. Mother Hen watches your coop's doors, every opening, and the climate inside — and tells you the moment something is wrong, before you lose a flock to a failure you couldn't have seen coming.

How it works

Three pieces work together. You install them once. They watch the coop for you.

The Coop Controller

The Coop Controller

A weather-resistant unit that lives in your coop. It watches your existing automatic door, talks to every sensor you add, and stays online over cellular — no Wi-Fi needed at the coop.

The Coop Climate Sensor and Door Monitor

The Coop Climate Sensor and Door Monitor

A small magnetic sensor for any door, window, nest box lid, or run gate. Reports open or closed, plus temperature and humidity right where it's mounted. Add as many as your coop has openings.

The Egg indoor indicator

The Egg

A small indoor light and buzzer for inside your home. Green by day, blue by night, flashing red with a squawk when something's wrong. So you know without checking your phone.

Local first

The Controller flashes a coop-side alert the instant it sees a problem, even if cellular is down.

Cloud second

The Egg and SMS alerts ride the cellular uplink. If your phone is silenced or dead, the Egg still squawks.

Daily check-in

Optional morning and evening SMS confirm the system is online. If those go quiet, you know to look.

Pricing

Frequently asked

What is Mother Hen?

Mother Hen is a coop monitoring system. The Controller lives in your coop, watches your existing automatic door and any sensors you add, and texts you the moment something goes wrong. It also reports temperature and humidity inside the coop. It does not open or close your door — it watches the door you already have. Read more.

How does it install?

Mount the Controller inside the coop next to a 110V outlet. Stick the Coop Climate Sensors on the openings you want to watch. Plug the Egg into a wall outlet in your house. Scan a QR code with your phone to register, and you're online. Most installs take under 30 minutes. Read more.

What happens if my cell signal goes down?

The Controller's coop-side indicator still flashes for events it can see directly. Cloud-delivered alerts (the Egg, SMS) resume the moment the connection is back.

What does it cost?

The Coop Controller is $399 and includes one Climate Sensor and one year of service. See full pricing details.
